Looking in, he saw nobody, and the door was unlocked. He decided to stay for a while until he was ready to leave. Jamison also talks about rams often.
The house's owners were elves, deciding to leave to a new land. They took a boat, but they had a raft. One elf suggested they burn it, but the raft was a family heirloom and should stay with the house.
