Rules of Archery Sport
(According to the official Korth Archery Association [KAA])
I. Team Structure
-3 total players on the team (only 1 may be on the archery range in any given round)
-1 head coach (may not also participate as a player)
-Assistant coaches may participate as players only after all 3 total players have performed at least twice
II. Scoring
-Arrow lands in Black region of KAA-approved target = minus 10 points
-Arrow lands in Blue region of KAA-approved target = plus 10 points
-Arrow lands in Red region of KAA-approved target = plus 15 points
-Arrow lands in Yellow region of KAA-approved target = plus 20 points
-If 3/5 of total arrows by a team lands on a single color, 15 extra points are awarded for high precision; If a fourth arrow lands on the same color, 5 extra points are awarded; If a fifth arrow lands on the same color, 5 extra points are awarded; Precision points cannot carry over into the second half of a competition
III. Rounds of Game Play
-All competition starts with a preliminary round with both archers shooting at the same time from the 10 meter line; The team who makes it closest to or on the yellow gains a “bonus” to shoot first in succeeding rounds and the other team cannot shoot in front of the bonus team; If both teams make it on the same color, then a re-do is done by both teams (at which point a different player may or may not be substituted)
-There are 10 total rounds, dividing into 5 for the first half and 5 for the second half
-The team who does not have the bonus from the preliminary round may steal the bonus by scoring in a higher color than the bonus in any round
-Game ends at 10 rounds, regardless of a tie
-A bench player can only be substituted for a shooting at the end of a particular round
-If a player shoots out of turn or from a closer distance than the bonus, then a foul is called on that player’s team, which nullifies all points by that team in that round
IV. Equipment
-Any bow, except an Ollopan Bow, may be used by any participant
V. KAA Organization
-organization of the Korth Archery Association [KAA] consists of all the head coaches of accepted teams
-changes to the rules must be unanimous
